Well the first cricket day of the season started so well, my Tom was in the 1st team and also got his 2ndXI cap. Me being a proper girl got all choked up when I was told. ( by 008).
Its good that the season is up and running, lets hope that we see some as spectators this season.
There were centuries aplenty, with Sam Robson hitting the first at Lords.
It was even better to see TLJL hit 79 for Kent, he really is showing his ability after being relegated to the 2nd's for the last couple of seasons at Yorkshire. Ollie Robinson hit 84 and it was great to see him wearing my shirt with my age on.
Yorkshire were off to a flying start with early wickets but Van de Gugton put the brakes on for Glamorgan as he was 80* overnight.
The Root brothers were playing, on opposite teams obviously.
So we go into day 2.
Wonderful word of the day is
Bumbo
which was an 18th/19th century name for a drink made form mixing rum with sugar, water and nutmeg.
In Italian bumbo was a childs word for a drink.
very apt for Friday and cocktail hour I thought although we aren't having bumbo this evening.
No Big Al's today either as we are foregoing again, everyone is a bit subdued at the moment so I am nipping to Lidl to get fresh patisserie. there's nothing like a 'pain au chocolat' to raise the spirits.
Happy Friday and Bon Weekend
