Test match Thursday

Another week is nearly at an end and  another test is in full swing, although rain was the cause of play being stopped yesterday ( as predicted).

There was much excitement at Old Trafford as England managed to dismiss Warner before the first over was over, which was pretty good going, but he has gone cheaply in most of the tests, its his catching that is the worry.
Back into the frame came Steve Smith and by close of play he had clocked up 60.
Along with his former replacement Labuschagne, they steadied a very shaky ship and although Labuschagne fell for 67, it was enough to give the visitors a foothold in the first innings.

In county news, we have signed  New Zealander Ajaz Patel for the final two games of the county championship he will replace Keshav Maharaj, who leaves us after the Taunton game.

Quarter finals in  T20 last night, which saw  Essex beat Lancashire to secure a finals day place. Big hitting Ravi Bopara was the hero of the evening.
Tonight we have Notts v Middlesex, I will be tuned in for that one.

On the home front, the wallpaper for the dining room turned out to have a larger pattern than at first thought, so is not suitable, I am thinking that as I still haven't seen anything that really jumps out at me I may be buying a huge batch of one coat white emulsion.

The new washing line is here and ready for the weekend.

In office news, Mickey Dripping revealed a fabulous new talent yesterday, he can do a really good Ernie impersonation ( as in Bert and Ernie from Sesame St). How we got to find this out is another comedy office gold.
This led to an outbreak of 'Cookie Monsters', Elmo's and from The Muppet show, the worst Miss Piggy impersonation ever heard, especially as she had a South African twang!

Well best to head off and see what today holds.

and make sure that I have no meetings scheduled  after 11am.
