Its that time again

The Festival

Queuing by the wrought iron gates
Turnstiles clicking the crowd through
Excited chatter all around
Waiting for the first view

Of Scarborough's wonderful cricket club
The pavilion in all its glory
The wooden benches and the tea room
All part of the festival story

Spectators and players mix in the ground
Ted the bookseller is usually there
The mobile Yorkshire Museum too
the smell of the sea in the air.

Avoiding the seagulls a common pastime
As picnics are unpacked
Cheering on the Yorkshire boys,
Enthusiam is never lacked.

The festival is something else
Words to describe it are hard to find
It's cricket, a holiday and lots of fun
Spending time with all cricket kind.
